Arsenal head coach Mikel Arteta has instructed the club hierarchy to send representatives for fresh talks regarding Real Madrid winger Vinicius Junior, according to reports. The Gunners previously pursued the Brazilian attacker during the summer transfer window before he opted to remain in Spain.
Summer Interest and Roc Nation Confirmation
Arsenal previously attempted to strengthen their attacking options after missing out on Morgan Rogers, who moved from Aston Villa to Chelsea for £117m. Sporting director Andrea Berta and Arteta pursued Vinicius Junior over the summer, with Michael Yormark, president of Roc Nation Sports International and the player’s agent, telling SportsBoom that Arsenal were “very aggressive” in their pursuit.
Yormark added that while the winger’s heart remains in Madrid where he hopes to spend his entire career, the player did listen when Arsenal rolled out the red carpet and made him feel wanted. Grant Veitch, a director at the agency, noted that other opportunities arose during the summer, but the player’s comfort level at Real Madrid and his desire to win more titles kept him at the club.
Renewed Pursuit and Potential Move
Speculation surrounding a potential move has resurfaced following a 4-1 victory over RB Leipzig, during which Vinicius Junior was substituted in the 70th minute for Yan Diomande. Spanish reports state that Diomande’s impact—contributing a goal and an assist—has further fueled the possibility of a transfer to Arsenal for the Brazilian.
According to reports, Mikel Arteta wants the English club to send representatives to explore the winger’s situation and gauge his willingness to move as an initial approach. From a sporting perspective, the player would provide pace, speed, and the ability to attack space, though the club would first need to understand the player’s intentions before discussing figures, terms, or negotiating with Real Madrid.
