Bournemouth seal historic 3-0 win over 10-man AC Milan

Amine Adli scored a brilliant free-kick to seal Bournemouth’s historic 3-0 victory over 10-man AC Milan, extending their perfect start in their first-ever European campaign. Ruben Amorim’s team fell well short of historic Milan standards on a wet and wild night at the Vitality Stadium, handing the Cherries a treasured scalp.

Match Chaos and First-Half Penalties

The chaotic first half featured a red card for Milan captain Mike Maignan, who was sent off for brutally pushing both hands into Tyler Adams’ face during a corner kick. That reckless action awarded Bournemouth their second penalty of the match, which Marcus Tavernier expertly dispatched. Justin Kluivert had already opened the scoring from the penalty spot earlier in the match following a handball by Koni De Winter.

As reported by Sky Sports, a VAR check initially spotted the handball from De Winter after Evanilson headed wide, leading to Kluivert coolly sending Maignan the wrong way in the eighth minute. Following Maignan’s 28th-minute dismissal, replacement goalkeeper Lorenzo Torriani was beaten by Tavernier from the spot in the 32nd minute. Adli then rounded off the scoring in the 84th minute by whipping a free-kick through a disjointed Milan wall.

Reaction from the Managers

Bournemouth manager Marco Rose praised his squad’s display, telling Sky Sports: “A big night for us. I’m happy for the club, our fans especially and really proud of my lads. The way they did it was brilliant from the first minute until the last minute, we played a really good game.” Rose added that the team will stay humble despite climbing to third in the Europa League table with three wins from three.

AC Milan boss Ruben Amorim admitted his frustration with the early turning point, telling Sky Sports: “It’s hard to talk about our performance. There was no game after 20 minutes. We need to avoid our mistakes. We need to have 11 players on the pitch all the time.” Amorim noted that the third goal killed the match after a difficult night in every aspect.

Bournemouth will now turn their focus to their upcoming fixtures in both the Premier League and the Europa League.
