Premier League Highest-Paid Players: Enzo Fernandez Enters Top 3

The closing of the Premier League transfer window has revealed the current standings for the division’s highest-earning players. This ranking focuses exclusively on base salaries without including bonuses, with the majority of financial figures provided by Capology.

The Top Earners in the Premier League

Tied for seventh place at £280,000 a week are several notable stars. Alexander Isak of Liverpool earns £14.56 million a year, representing a 133 percent increase from his previous salary at Newcastle, reflecting his status as British football’s most expensive player. Phil Foden of Manchester City also commands £280,000 a week after securing a pay rise. Ryan Gravenberch receives the same weekly wage following a new long-term contract with Liverpool after their 2024/25 Premier League title success. Arsenal’s Kai Havertz rounds out this tier at £280,000 a week, carrying over high wages from his previous move from Chelsea.

Moving up to a three-way tie for fourth place at £300,000 a week, Manchester United captain Bruno Fernandes earns this amount while reportedly seeking an increase to £400,000 a week. He shares this salary bracket with teammate Marcus Rashford, who returned to Manchester United after Barcelona did not make his loan move permanent, and Arsenal’s Bukayo Saka, whose recent contract renewal pushed his wages past the £300,000-a-week mark.

Tied for second place are Enzo Fernandez of Manchester City and Virgil van Dijk of Liverpool, both earning £350,000 a week. Fernandez secured his high salary following a record-equalling transfer fee, effectively doubling his previous earnings according to SalaryLeaks. Van Dijk earns nearly double his initial 2018 Liverpool salary, leaving questions about his extensive playing time as the club attempts to maximize their investment.

At the very top of the list is Manchester City’s Erling Haaland, who takes home £525,000 a week. Following months of negotiations, Haaland signed a massive 10-season deal that secures a lucrative package for the striker and sets a formidable financial benchmark in English football.
