Andy Woodman Leaves Bromley After Mutual Contract Termination

Long-standing Bromley manager Andy Woodman has left the League One club following the mutual termination of his contract after a challenging start to the season.

Unprecedented Success and Promotion

Woodman took charge of Bromley in 2021 in his maiden managerial role, overseeing the most successful era in the club’s history by capturing three trophies and guiding them into the Football League for the first time. The Ravens secured the League Two title in May to achieve a second promotion under his watch, while Woodman earned the division’s manager of the year award for the 2025-26 season.

His tenure lasted five years and seven months, ranking as the third-longest spell across the 92 clubs in the Premier League and English Football League, trailing only Arsenal manager Mikel Arteta and Nigel Clough of Mansfield Town.

Challenging League One Campaign

Bromley has found life in the third tier difficult, currently sitting 23rd in the standings and one point above bottom-placed Wigan Athletic. The team has secured only two victories in their 10 league fixtures this season and conceded an EFL-high 25 goals.

Recent results included a 4-0 defeat against Leicester City, marking a third consecutive league loss and a fifth straight defeat across all competitions. The club also suffered heavy losses earlier in the season, including a 7-2 defeat at Hillsborough and a 5-0 loss at Hayes Lane against Leyton Orient, alongside a lengthy injury list and significant squad turnover.

Club Reaction and Future Leadership

Bromley owner and chairman Robin Stanton-Gleaves stated that Woodman played a fundamental role in helping the club achieve new heights. Stanton-Gleaves added that working with Andy on a personal note had been a pleasure and wished him the best for the future.

Assistant manager Byron Webster will manage first-team affairs on an interim basis as Peterborough United visit Hayes Lane on Saturday at 15:00 BST.
