Real Madrid secured their third consecutive Champions League victory with a commanding 4-1 win over RB Leipzig on Wednesday. Goals from Bernardo Silva, Arda Guler, Kylian Mbappé, and Yan Diomande powered José Mourinho’s side to another European triumph.
Madrid Dominates Leipzig at Home
Bernardo Silva opened the scoring for Real Madrid late in a tightly contested first half, finishing from close range. Shortly after the restart, Arda Guler extended the advantage for the 15-time European champions, before Kylian Mbappé added a third with a bent effort into the net. Although Tidiam Gomis answered with a goal for Leipzig, Yan Diomande sealed the performance late in the game by striking a volley into the top corner.
Mbappé, who has now scored 12 goals in 12 matches across all competitions this season and netted in every Champions League fixture, reflected on the team’s strong start. “We know every point is important to get into the top eight, we know we have to win as many games as possible – we’ve won three and there are five to go,” Mbappé told The Guardian. He added, “I’m doing well [but] I think I can do more,” noting, “I’m one of the few players who always has to demand more from himself … right now it’s a good moment, but we have to keep going and I have to do more.”
Lask Come Back at Sporting as Galatasaray Win Thriller
Austrian champions Lask produced a striking comeback to secure a 3-2 victory away against Sporting at the Estádio José Alvalade. The hosts initially took the lead through a fifth-minute penalty by Luis Suárez, but Christoph Lang leveled ten minutes later. Sasa Kalajdzic completed a precise team movement to put Lask ahead, and Krystof Danek fired in at the near post for 3-1. A second goal late on from Suárez was not enough to save Sporting.
Galatasaray earned a 4-2 away victory over Lille at the Stade Pierre-Mauroy. Yunus Akgun netted for the visitors after just two minutes, but Soriba Diaoune responded twice to give Lille a 2-1 lead by the 39th minute. Aleksey Batrakov restored parity right before half-time, setting up Galatasaray to pull ahead in the second half through an own goal by Nabil Bentaleb and a finish from Victor Osimhen against his former club.
Inter Milan, Real Betis, and Club Brugge Claim Victories
Italian champions Inter Milan collected their first points of the league phase by holding on for a 1-0 home win against Shakhtar Donetsk. Mid-way through the second half, Alessandro Bastoni received two yellow cards in two minutes and was sent off. Despite playing with 10 men, Inter found the decisive goal in the 77th minute when Carlos Augusto completed a rapid counterattack with a low finish.
Real Betis made it three wins from three games this season by edging Feyenoord 1-0. Isco converted a low penalty into the right corner following a handball inside the box by Jeremiah St Juste. Elsewhere, Club Brugge delivered a decisive 3-0 home victory against Lens at the Jan Breydel Stadium, opening the scoring through Hans Vanaken in first-half stoppage time before Joaquin Seys and Carlos Forbs added second-half goals.
