Barcelona midfielder Dani Olmo has been ruled out of this Sunday’s upcoming Clasico against Real Madrid after sustaining an adductor injury. The club confirmed the setback following examinations after a recent European fixture.
Champions League Injury Setback
Olmo had to be substituted within the opening 30 minutes of Barcelona’s Champions League fixture against Paris Saint-Germain on Tuesday after sustaining the knock. Medical evaluations subsequently verified the extent of the physical issue.
According to an official statement released by Barcelona, testing confirmed that Dani Olmo is suffering from an injury to his left adductor muscle as a consequence of a collision with an opponent during the game against Paris Saint-Germain. The club added that the player is expected to be sidelined for approximately one month.
Impact on the Squad
The 28-year-old has recorded direct contributions to five goals, consisting of one goal and four assists, across 12 total appearances for Barcelona during the current campaign. However, only six of those appearances have come in the starting lineup.
Within the squad this term, only Lamine Yamal has provided more assists with 10. Furthermore, Yamal with 19 is the sole Blaugrana player to have created more Opta-defined big chances than Olmo, who has generated eight.
Barcelona are scheduled to welcome their rivals Madrid for the first Clasico of the season on Sunday, aiming to widen their advantage over Jose Mourinho’s team at the summit of the table. The Blaugrana currently sit at the top of LaLiga having triumphed in all nine of their league fixtures so far, whereas Madrid occupy third position with 21 points.
