Man Utd Advised Against Appointing Julian Nagelsmann

Manchester United have been warned against appointing former Bayern Munich coach Julian Nagelsmann to succeed Michael Carrick in the dugout. Nagelsmann has remained unemployed since resigning from his role as Germany manager following their departure from the World Cup this summer.

Managerial Options at Old Trafford

The 39-year-old previously enjoyed a successful tenure at RB Leipzig prior to a less successful spell at Bayern Munich, and he has experienced strong links to Manchester United over recent months. A report released this month indicated that Nagelsmann is open to joining the Red Devils, who may soon be searching for a new head coach. Meanwhile, Michael Carrick currently stands as the favorite to become the first Premier League manager dismissed this season after securing only two victories in ten matches at the beginning of the campaign.

A report from talkSPORT reveals that Nagelsmann has supporters within Manchester United, alongside two alternative candidates under consideration. According to the report, Brighton manager Fabian Hurzeler is viewed as an option by the club, while former Premier League champion Antonio Conte is ready to take charge at Old Trafford.

Warnings Over Nagelsmann and Broader Club Issues

However, talkSPORT reporter and Manchester United fan Alex Crook has outlined the reasons why the club should steer clear of Nagelsmann. Speaking on talkSPORT, Crook questioned the wisdom of a potential appointment given the manager’s recent record and temperament.

“The standards since the start of the season have been so poor, the regression has been stark and I’m not calling for Michael Carrick to be sacked,” Crook said on talkSPORT. “But I agree with Erik ten Hag and I agree with Lisandro Martinez last week. What was the point in just rinsing and repeating? You sack another manager, you bring in someone like Nagelsmann, who didn’t cover himself in glory as the Germany boss and he’s also quite a combustible character. How’s he going to work with the likes of Jason Wilcox, who seemingly is going nowhere, and Omar Berrada? How’s he going to cope with what is still, I think, quite a problematic dressing room?”

Crook expressed doubt that a managerial change would provide anything more than a temporary lift before players return to previous habits. He suggested that Carrick is not the primary issue at the club, describing the summer transfer window as poor and arguing that the squad lacks the necessary depth to compete across multiple competitions.
