Arsenal are facing a major concern over the fitness of Bukayo Saka, with internal reports revealing fears that the winger could be sidelined for up to two months. The England international was forced off early in the game during Arsenal’s 2-2 draw against Bayern Munich in the Champions League on Wednesday night after suffering a quadriceps injury.
Manager’s Assessment and Ongoing Scans
Speaking on Friday, Arsenal manager Mikel Arteta did not provide a final timeframe for the injury but acknowledged the situation is worrying. Arteta noted that it is never a good sign when a player struggles to walk off the pitch without pain and has restricted movement, adding that the club is waiting for a definitive assessment while exercising patience.
Arteta explained that the player required another MRI scan because a significant amount of fluid in the affected area made it difficult to determine the severity of the problem immediately. The manager stated that the club would have more clarity following further evaluations.
Estimated Recovery Timeline
A report from BBC reporter Sami Mokbel indicated that the Gunners are concerned the forward could be out for two months. Saka is anticipated to miss a minimum of six weeks, though his absence could stretch longer, causing him to miss the upcoming international break alongside several crucial fixtures for his club.
The 25-year-old was scheduled to undergo an MRI scan on Friday afternoon to gain a clearer picture of the issue sustained at the Allianz Arena. Although fluid around the muscle complicated the initial diagnosis, club medical staff estimate an absence of at least six weeks based on early examinations.
