Arsenal Star Rice Praised as World-Class After Bayern Draw

Arsenal midfielder Declan Rice received high praise as a world-class player following his crucial equaliser in a 2-2 draw against Bayern Munich in the Champions League.

Gerrard Praises Arsenal and Rice

The Gunners initially took the lead at the Allianz Arena through an emphatic finish from Eberechi Eze, which was validated following a VAR review for offside. Bayern Munich subsequently leveled the score via Alphonso Davies before Harry Kane converted a penalty to put the German side ahead with 29 minutes remaining. Rice ultimately secured a point for Arsenal in the league phase match by delivering a wonderful run and finish.

According to Football365, Steven Gerrard lauded the Arsenal star as a world-class midfielder and commended the squad for displaying resilience during the match. Speaking to TNT Sports as reported by Football365, Gerrard stated: “I did look at this game and think it was a wonderful opportunity for Arsenal to show why they’re Premier League champions and to go and win this game.” He noted that Bayern were missing several starters and dealing with a manager illness, adding that the German side played like men and that it would have been unfair had they lost.

Gerrard further observed that Arsenal responded when facing a deficit in a difficult environment. He remarked: “They’ve come here in a tough environment and gone 2-1 behind but they stood up, found the solution and showed real character and mentality.” Regarding the goalscorer, Gerrard stated: “Forget about that, Declan Rice is a world-class midfielder and that was a top, top goal.”

Post-Match Comments From Rice and Kane

Following the match, Rice spoke about his England teammate Harry Kane ahead of the upcoming Ballon d’Or ceremony. When discussing Kane’s prospects for the award, Rice told Football365: “He is the clear winner. His numbers speak for themselves, the year he has had has been remarkable. When you play with him you realise how good he is and when you play against him you see how much of a pain it is. He is ridiculous, such a good player and I am lucky I can play with him, not so lucky I have to play against him.”

Commenting on the team’s approach in Germany, Rice explained that the squad did not travel simply to sit back, noting that the manager had instilled that mentality during training over the preceding two days. He concluded that delivering such a performance away against one of Europe’s best home teams was a positive outcome.
