Harry Kane admits he would prefer to know immediately whether he has won the Ballon d’Or because the ongoing uncertainty is causing stress for his relatives. The Bayern Munich and England forward is the odds-on favourite to secure the individual award ahead of Monday night’s ceremony at the London Palladium.
Prolific Form and Contenders
The 33-year-old striker netted 61 goals for Bayern and 12 for England during the previous campaign, and has already added 10 for his club and six for his country this season. He recently scored a penalty in a 2-2 Champions League stalemate with Arsenal at the Allianz Arena, alongside providing a precise assist for Alphonso Davies. Barcelona player Lamine Yamal holds the second-favourite position in the betting, followed by Real Madrid forward Kylian Mbappé.
Speaking about the suspense, Kane stated that his wife and family would prefer to know the outcome in advance because the situation is very stressful for everyone involved. He acknowledged the reasoning behind keeping the winner secret, noting that the organizers want all major names to attend and maintain television viewership. While he expressed a personal desire to avoid waiting through the entire evening, he noted that the decision rests with the organizers and he cannot control it.
He added that he tries to avoid thinking about the outcome, though he admitted it is difficult with various rumors circulating.
Team News and Injury Update
In other team news, Bayern forward Luis Díaz faces a spell on the sidelines for the foreseeable future after sustaining a minor muscle tear in his left hamstring. The 29-year-old Colombia international entered the match as a substitute in the 68th minute against Arsenal but had to be substituted during stoppage time. Medical staff at the club performed examinations that verified the hamstring tear, prompting the club to confirm his absence from upcoming fixtures in an official statement.
