Tottenham are reportedly relaxed about mounting transfer interest in Pedro Porro after the defender grew disillusioned with the club’s project. The Spanish right-back only signed a new contract in June, but speculation has linked him with potential moves to Real Madrid and Barcelona.
Pedro Porro Eyes Exit After Losing Faith in Spurs Project
According to Football Insider, the 27-year-old has already lost faith in the direction of the club despite recently putting pen to paper on an improved deal. Sources indicated that the defender wants to compete for top honours at the highest possible level, an ambition he reportedly no longer believes he can achieve in north London.
Reports previously highlighted that both Real Madrid and Barcelona are considering moves for the full-back. It was noted that Porro would jump at the chance to join either of the LaLiga giants, raising questions about his long-term future following a strong run of form that included helping Spain win the World Cup and earning a spot in the team of the tournament.
Tottenham’s Stance on Exit Rumours and Valuation
As reported by Football Insider and journalist Pete O’Rourke, Tottenham remain unconcerned by the growing speculation and have zero intention of selling the player during the January transfer window. The club hopes that an improvement in results as the season progresses will persuade Porro to stay.
Should the defender remain determined to secure a move to Spain, Tottenham are prepared to demand a substantial fee to protect their asset. Previous reports valued Porro at £75m, a figure that would break the world record for a right-back transfer, surpassing the £57m fee PSG paid for Achraf Hakimi in 2021.
Porro is expected to play a central role in Tottenham’s efforts to climb the table and secure European qualification for the upcoming campaign.
