Tandberg Fired Up for North London WSL Derby

Tottenham Hotspur forward Cathinka Tandberg has emphasized the significance of Saturday’s Women’s Super League showdown against Arsenal at Tottenham Hotspur Stadium. The clash comes at a critical time for Arsenal, who are facing increased pressure following a sluggish start to their league campaign.

High Stakes in North London

As a lifelong supporter of Tottenham, Tandberg explained the intense local rivalry between the two sides. In an interview with The Guardian’s Moving the Goalposts, the forward highlighted the emotional weight surrounding the derby.

“It means more than just three points. It’s for the whole club. It’s for the whole place. It’s for the whole of Tottenham,” Tandberg said.

The striker noted that while major fixtures naturally bring heightened pre-match tension, those emotions serve as positive motivation on the pitch.

“It will just be an incredible feeling,” she told Moving the Goalposts. “I think you will feel a few nerves that you maybe don’t feel in a normal game but that’s good.”

Tandberg also spoke about the strong passionate divide that defines the rivalry for both squads and their respective fanbases.

“All the Spurs fans hate Arsenal and Arsenal hate Spurs. That’s how it is. You want to show that you’re the best team. Simple as that. You just want to fight for the club, the badge and for the people around you,” Tandberg stated.
