Liverpool to discuss recalling loan star in a meeting this weekend

Liverpool will hold a meeting this weekend to determine whether to recall defender Ifeanyi Ndukwe from his loan spell at Levante during the January transfer window.

Loan Spell and Work Permit

Liverpool brought Ndukwe to the club over the summer, but the towering 6ft 6in centre-half was ineligible to play competitive matches because he lacked enough points for an English work permit. Following an impressive pre-season, the Reds loaned the Austrian to LaLiga side Levante so he could secure the necessary credentials. After initially sitting on the bench for his first three games, Ndukwe made two substitute appearances and three successive starts, needing just one LaLiga appearance to qualify for a work permit in England.

January Recall Discussions

With the work permit requirement successfully fulfilled, Sky Sports Austria reports that Liverpool will meet with representatives from Ndukwe’s agency, More than Sport by AS1, this weekend. The Liverpool Echo notes that discussions will center on mapping out the young defender’s next steps and exploring the possibility of activating a clause to bring him back to Merseyside in January. Liverpool retained a specific option to recall the player from Spain halfway through the campaign.
